Hi there Fully understand the apprehension and nervousness as went through same a couple of months ago, but my advise is to bite the bullet everyone is so friendly and sociable there. You will be under no pressure to do anything you not fully relaxed and comfortable about, and yes if you wanting to just chat or watch then that not a problem. Just take things at pace you both happy with.
